haha.

I think DHIADW might've broke 20,000 in the US. MIGHT have. I know they were under 15,000 on all their previous ones. They sell much better in Europe, though.

Where did you get these figures? I can never find them. I guess they sold 1/4 of DHIADW's total in two weeks. That's pretty good.

actually they sold more than that. The store i get my stuff from sold over 50 copies of Dead Heart. ITs a private owned store. Their salesdont count on these lists. At least Ron, the dude that runs the store said the sales didnt count. And he said that the Chic from Century Media, whom he orders his stuff from told him.

Thanks for the link Troy.

the system isn't entirely accurate, no. In fact, it counts how many were shipped to the major retailers, not the amount actually sold (there could still be copies sitting on the shelves). And I read somewhere that they actually account for the indie stores by calculating a certain percentage of the amount sent to the major stores and tacking it on. So, say they sold 15000 to the major stores, then they'd add, say 2% for indie stores, so the total would be 15,300. I don't recall what percentage it was, though.

At least that's what I've read, could be wrong.

SoundScan actually counts what has sold from POS, not what was shipped. Billboard does that plus Billboard will take a 2 CD set and count it as 2 units instead of 1. So if band X ships 200,000 units of a 2 CD set to retailers then Billboard counts it as 400,000, even though they may only sell 100,000 pieces. Where as SoundScan counts each CD as 1. According to Metal-Sludge stores will be "weighted" to factor in stores that are not included in SoundScan.
