This thread is created because I'm asking your piece of advice to help me buy a giutar. I've been learning classic guitar for 7 years and I adore metal. I know some metal songs but on my classic guitar.

Thanx in advance!

It depends on what you're looking to spend. I'm using retail prices here, so you might be able to find these cheaper somewhere else... for $500 Jackson have a really nice guitar that pumps out a great distortion sound. The Jackson DKMG is what I use. It's great for metal, but falls short on the clean channels. If you're looking to buy a top of the line metal guitar, Jackson also make the SL1 (Soloist) which retails for around $2000. I've played it twice in my life and it's by far the greatest metal guitar I've ever laid my hands on. The clean sound of this guitar is good, but yet it isn't perfect. But overall, this is the best guitar for ANY style of metal, in my opinion. If you want a good guitar all-around, then go for a Gibson Les Paul. They're really worth the (pending on which Les Paul you choose) $1000+ price. They'll give you a nice, thick distortion but will also give you a great clean sound. It all depends on your taste/price range. If you're going for all out metal, go with Jackson or one of the more expensive BC Rich guitars. If you want to check around on your own, use www.harmony-central.com as a base for your opinion. They supply user reviews for just about every guitar and effects pedal out there. Also, your head/cab set up makes a big difference as well. For metal, solid state amps sound a lot better. They give you a nice saturated sound, but doesn't provide the "warmth" of a tube amp during clean segments. I use the Crate GX900H Excalibur head with the Marshall 1960A cab and it puts out a great sound on both the bluesy distortion and metal distortion channels. Hope I could be of some help...

In the USA, you can get a SL1 from a number of places for under $1400 shipped, brand new, with a case.

The clean sound of Jacksons are usually great to spectatular, but I think this depends a little more on the clean channel of the amp you are using more than anything.

Les Pauls are okay, unlike Jackson, I would have to play one first, cause they commonly have quality issues.

Jacksons are far more consistent from guitar to guitar since they started selling them.

I would also suggest, USA BC Rich stuff, which is awesome, and just as consistent as USA Jackson stuff. Carvin makes some nice stuff. Their custom guitars cost less than USA BC Rich or Jackson STANDARD stuff.

How much were you looking to spend?

Thanks men a lot til now cause you have helped me to realise that it isn't just the guitar that makes the sound. Specifically I am looking for a Gibson model. I can spend on a giutar about 1180 euros.

Please inform me 'bout the good brands of amplifiers and pedals. I have about 200 euros for a pedal.

Hope i'm not tiring you!

Don't hesitate to send me a private message.

These kind of questions should probably be in Musicians discussion.

You might get a better response there.

There have been a few other threads about amps and pedals too.

as far as pedals go ,D.O.D Death pedal
