Hey guys. It will be cool if andy would make video how he works. I am big fan of Andy Sneap: AILD(Shadows Are Security) & caleban(The Undying Darkness) sound and if to know how he does that ,that would be awesome tutorial.

Now i can not do drums like "AILD confined" sound =((. May be somebody know how to do that ? how to mix, to record (through analog tape - analog tube compressors etc). What manufacturer of BD ?

i was exploring forum but i could not find something about AILD drums tone creation//

thx

i am not considering guitar tone so far =)) i am working hard on drums

I want to sound like myself.

Andy is a great engineer who has developed his own sound, maybe you should try and aim to do the same for yourself.

there's plenty of stuff in this forum... do a search. There's a great thread on drums for metal as a "sticky" in the forum.

Somehow i dont think a video will make you sound like Andy Sneap.

Audio Engineering takes alot of hard work and there is no short answer on how to sound like Sneap, Best advice i could give is read all the stuff on here and try to be creative within your means. To put it bluntly you'll never sound like Sneap , so i would say try to create your own thing. Of course my opinion is subjective and you can take or leave it :)

Im assuming you know of the Chimaira samples? That'd be a start in the right direction....

Oh and I forgot to mention that the best gear in the world won't make your recordings sound good. There's a LOT to learn. Believe me.

Yes, exactly. Plus, I don't think the AILD sound is tracked to tape. If I remember correctly it's 100% Sample replaced except for the OH.

Explore the forum. There's a lot of stuff. But you will probably never sound just like Sneap. Doesn't mean you won't make great stuff!

2wyllie - do you mean tom samples ? yeah i have - but i really need help about AILD bassdrum & snare=))
yes i know about skills. But i am sure that there is lot of rules - that is norm

I understand you wanting to sound like Andy.. i think 80% of this forum would like that as well, truth is that it will probably never happen.
I would bet (a bet you would really want to take on) that even when you are in Andy's studio it will NOT sound the same with you at the wheel, or mr Murphy, or Brett, etc.

It's in the mentality and mindset, the way of working and approaching things, i think that instead of chasing a sound that allready exists you should go for your own sound, keep learning, buy and test gear, trial and error over, and over, and over again.
