I wanna sound like Andy Sneap

Well, you could use his samples to begin with, use your ears for the guitars and bass and take it from there.

do u mean: http://andysneap.com/media/drum samples/ ????
I tried bass drum - do you think i can get AILD drum from that ? hhmmm - it is very attacked - as i can hear "confined" drum has not much attack and low spectrum is another - it is smacking

no - i am not regular here

I can haz sneap br00talz?

In all seriousness bro, getting a professional sound requires a professional. A person that has the experience, the tools and the knowledge of how to make things sound "ideal". Assuming for one you don't have a Sneap-sized budget, take what you have and master it. Getting the more expensive and flashier toys will get you no where if you don't know how to use them.

For instance check out the history on the Rate my Tone/Sound area. I've heard amazing stuff coming from the demos of Rev mkIII, demos of Addictive Drums and Steven Slate drum samples. The demos man! Buy what you can in your price range, master what you get and you'll have a sound no one can knock at. Along the way you'll learn how much it takes people like Andy Sneap, James Murphy, LSD-Studio and OzNimbus to get where they are.

2spioraid - you are right - but i think i can buy andys stuff =)
already i have interesting stuff

i was reading that he uses only waves SSL and nothing from his devices though

i do not understand ,guys !!

i asked how can i get near to AILD drums ,that andy did. Why lol ?

i asked for real help. how should i process samples for that tone ?

Why lol ?

It's "lol" because there's no "fairy dust" that can be sprinkled on drums to make them sound good, and there's an absurd amount of factors that contribute. Are you looking for advice for types of drums, drum heads, samples, eq'ing/compression techniques, mic choice, mic positioning, preamp choice, parallel compression and other tricks? And if so...search :) The only way we can help is if you post a recording, say what you don't like about it, and we'll try to give tips to make it better.

This thread should have been over after the 2nd post when Gomez said:

I want to sound like myself.

Andy is a great engineer who has developed his own sound, maybe you should try and aim to do the same for yourself.

there's plenty of stuff in this forum... do a search. There's a great thread on drums for metal as a "sticky" in the forum.

Don't feed the trolls, guys :)

somethings I'm learning the hard way:

1 - There's no magic in mixing... you learn by practising and working !!!!!
2 - The only people who gets some recognition in this world are the ones who are UNIQUE, that have something DIFFERENT to offer.

This place is so full of good information... read, absorv, process and then listen and apply it... see if it works, if don't (and it won't), try tweaking it by yourself!

Andy has CurveEQ files for snare, toms, kick, bass, etc. When he gets a project all he needs to do is open em up and apply that and he gets the tones he has. If you PM him he can give you the files.

stop kidding plz/ - it is not flame thread

2Morgoe
thank you - and you think, he will answer ? =))

Yeah right.

btw - i saw project on ftp: The Kick Drum Project

there - files: cl3 & nov. who can say - where these formats from ?

Andrey, you are asking some really ridiculous stuff. This just may be the most ridiculous thread I've ever seen on this entire forum. It reminds me of that "legendary" thread, which I believe was on Gearslutz, where that guy what asking all about compression, and he would blatantly disagree with everyone's (correct) input, in a totally asinine and noob-ish way. I'm sure someone knows what I'm talking about and can post a link of that whole thread...

My point is that you've asked how to achieve sounds like Andy, and people have given you the absolute correct answer: practice for years, talk to people about specific questions that pertain to something that you can directly apply to your recording work, and read everything you can possibly find about recording. Some people will do all of these things, and still completely suck, and will probably always suck, while some people will be able to create awesome mixes. You have to have a natural knack for it and a really great ear to really ever have a chance at being in the big leagues with Andy. And you have to have realized already that people are just messing with you now, telling you to PM Andy for CurveEQ files... If you are serious and not a complete moron, you should probably duck out of these forums until you've spent months trolling silently through the wealth of content, while simultaneously mixing everything you can get your hands on, and then come back to the forum when you have a realistic question and a realistic attitude...and maybe by then people won't make fun of you.
