i dont loathe riverside for being popular. i loathe riverside because theyre fucking awful AND pretentious enough to get everyone thinking theyre something more than just pseudo-progressive metal re-hash. i dont WANT everyone to love this new song...i frankly dont care. but its not pretending to be something it isnt...and what it is, is part of the reason Opeth for instance...even exists. the point is you all are a bunch of new-metal twerps who have no real sense of classic metal idioms or ideals, and anything which doesnt have folk passages, tons of keyboard atmosphere, or "70s prog" elements, you all think is lame now. youve all done yourselves a huge disservice at this point by raising the bar so high. you went from one extreme to the other people.

and of course motorhead beats this. when did i ever debate that? the point is, abbath and the gang could have easily set out to make Immortal pt. 2 but didnt, instead, they paid homage to why everyone is into this genre in the first place, and frankly did a pretty decent job too. its to evoke that old school mentality, not be mindblowing or groundbreaking musically. half you clowns claim to like venom, or bathory or celtic frost, but i doubt any of you REALLY do for any reason other than Mikael wears fucking t-shirts of them...since so many of you seem to hate this song, which is basically the exact same sound and principles as those classics.

so yes. GO BACK TO YOUR DRAGONFORCE, RIVERSIDE AND BEHEMOTH!

I cant really give a technical standpoint from it to be honest. But i listened to it a few times and it just didnt grab me really. So i wont bother listening to it just because id rather listen to other things.

edit: ok, i can explain myself better. When i listen to music i love/like i get this feeling instantly as soon as i listen to it. Other times i will get a feeling where i think there could be something, but it wasnt instantly rewarding, so i will listen to it enough to make sure i get the most out of it. With that song( possibly not the album ) I felt nothing. It just sounded boring to me. I didnt experience what i wanted to. Again not a technical explination

Fact is stuff like that was done a million times - I'd agree with you if it was done with some superb class here, but this is decent at best, so quit overreacting...
