I

Seriously, judging from the one song I've heard I have to say that this is incredibly boring and sucky music. Cliché, repetitive, static, unoriginal, the vocals are even worse than they were in immortal, etc.. etc...

... the point is you all are a bunch of new-metal twerps who have no real sense of classic metal idioms or ideals, and anything which doesnt have folk passages, tons of keyboard atmosphere, or "70s prog" elements.

I must say I agree with this statement 100%. It's a massive thorn in the side with people in this forum (not all of course) in that if characteristics of Opeth aren't in other bands, the other bands must automatically suck.

The 70's prog "fashion movement" is something I am fucking sick to death of hearing... left and right "prog here, prog there", when nobody actually realises what it even is!

Listening to a bunch of Camel records because Akerfeldt does is NOT good enough. The problem with these metal kids of today is that they have no concept of historical evolvement in music, let alone metal.. and then jump on a forum making sweeping claims of grandeur with no proper knowledge of music!

From a historical perspective I pity the one raised on death metal as opposed to the one raised on NWOBHM (or prior for that matter). These kids raised with metal in it's current state (let alone 5 or so years ago) have no idea about about music and the world which surrounds it, all they see are "instant hits", "instant genres" etc.

I'm sorry, I know I sound incredibly pretentious, but nothing fucks me off more than an uneducated so-called music fanatic (and I'm not referring to having a degree here, I'm talking about doing the right personal research).

It makes my fucking blood boil: go about music properly... ask questions, go and fucking stick on a copy of Aladdin Sane and start learning where all these elements come from, and THEN open your mouths to speak.

No Shit Moony, too many people are pre-ocuppied with genres and sub genres and what they are associated with.

Fucking listen to music because you like, not because you are supposed to like it.

What happened to simply enjoying music for what it is?

I'm referring to the detailed discussion of it by people who don't do their research first.... enjoying it for what it is is cool... no issues there.

The first song, which you also could download, isn't representive for this album. Rest of the songs are more "grim" and could almost be tagged as an Immortal album. Song 2 got an incredible cool guitar solo by Arve. (Enslaved).

^nope, not all of us are NFU, so yeah, its floating around.

I'd say this album is pretty amusing.
It's kind of shocking to see Abbath without corpse paint.

The more I listen to the album, the more it takes me back to Sons of Northern Darkness. I think Between Two Worlds is a solid and interesting comeback by Abbath, and as NFU said, it's great because it's an "honest" record (its so good to hear someone else describe music like that for a change).

If this is anything to go by, and if Immortal decide to record new material, then we are in for a real treat folks. I is the real deal.
