har
most of those free things really suck
fucking adverts, popups etc

you can get hosting for a small site very cheap, domain names for next to fuck all if youre happy without .com or .org

my .me.uk domains cost me about £6 for 2 years each

Microsoft has a new program out called Office Live, http://officelive.microsoft.com/. You basically get a free domain, free hosting, and free website builder. It is very basic, but for a newbie it is perfect, and you don't spend anything. Right now you can even get their more advanced version of it for free as beta programs. You just sign up online at that link I provided.

I'm just barely past the newbie phase, so ask me questions if you want serious answers.

both very helpful. thanks guys. i figured having your own domain would be fairly cheap, but i dont want to pay anything. at least not right now. hell, i wouldn't even know who to pay or contact.

No, I just found out about them a few days ago. Its all in beta phase. Go to that link and look at the features. The free thing you can't even use Frontpage extensions with. So you either use their supposedly simple website builder, or use HTML.
