If we only talked about Opeth....

After being told we are only allowed to talk about Ahnathema on their forum, I think its a shame as its going to become really crap.... Does any one agree, disagree?

yeah i agree, BUT it wouldnt hurt to occassionaly see a opeth thread, there havent been that many compared to other subjects

I don't think that's what these forums should be about - just band talk. That would definately lead to a finite # of topics to discuss - you'd find yourself rehashing old crap with new words.

I also think there has been plenty of Opeth talk on this forum, but this forum really displays the type of person that is the Opeth listener. This has been said many times, but the intellectual level here is not equalled on any other board I've ever been on. It's what makes this a unique experience, and one I hope will not go away.

Based on many of these threads, the topics are deep, and sometimes I feel people feel free to tell people here things they would otherwise keep to themselves. Also, there is a minimum of that 4-letter word mentality found on most other boards.

If I was told to talk about Opeth only, I would still come here, but a hell of a lot less.

Yeah, but we've just about had every possible Opeth thread I think. Well every sensible one

Exactly. These forums are so good because we don't just talk about bands. Its a shame in some of the others we have to. Ilike the eclecticism of this forum

I agree. I have had a few threads removed from the Anathema forum. How dare they! I am the king of pointless threads.... anyway I have always disliked forums in which the moderator acts like a dictator, thankfully this here Opeth forum allows us to make threads that are so very, very unecessary,

Yeah I don't like it at all either. Oh well. What threads were removed? I only got one slightly rude one removed. I'm not sure if MikaelIsGod replied before it was removed tho Please enlighten me!

Oh, and I think your bi-monthly reminders that we are pricks are very usefull - Imean we could just forget and how bad would that be?

Yeah, that would suck if we'd get an Anathema-style moderatrooper on our backs. The reason I came to this forum was to talk to Opeth fans, who as I figured are intelligent critters, and NOT to talk only about Opeth riffs. A shame that the Anathema one will be so weak and impersonal.

Well, we have a couple of threads on Opeth,
and loads of threads on other things...
But if you read through them they are all pretty
much about music and how it affects you,
and then we always mention Opeth...
It's just natural...
Opeth is a big part of our lives,
but we do have other things as well,
and we all want to share them >)

I seemed to notice recently on some of the other UM boards threads getting moved around n' stuff... I don't think that COULD be done here on Opeth, as it'd spark a massive uproar. I think it's pretty much set that for the most part, we're going to discuss whatever we want (within a certain degree of reason). I think if it was any other way, I wouldn't be here.

I agree....

Forums who are just about the band and nothing else,are somehow doomed to die...That's why DT,Anathema and Katatonia forum are a bit hmmm dead...at least not so active as the Opeth forum...
Of course we are here to talk about Opeth and I love talking and reading about Opeth,but i also find it ery interesting to read stuff about the other Opethian's life...their thoughts,their beliefs etc etc ....

I've seen several off topic threads on the Nevermore forum, but in the others discussion is largely confined to the appropriate band...which is why the Katatonia, Vintersorg, and Angel Dust forums seem underpopulated...
