If you could make the best control room/live room...

Hey dudes, my father recently talked to me about building a studio space in our basement, because I have been using 2 extra rooms in our house and have been unable to change things for the most part. I have been feeling like I was losing a crucial part of my mixes because the room I am currently using suck to be honest. So I want to make space for a live room and a control room, but I have no idea what the best possible size/configuration would be. The nice thing is I have the opportunity to create my own space how I would like. Any input would be fantastic.

Wow, its pretty hard to deny that when seeing pictures of yours, it looks beautiful. If I may ask, was it expensive to hire a contractor?
