Looking for something a bit different? Check out Ilium 'Sirens Of The Styx'. The very unique vocals (almost Salamanda like - or Krille from Wuthering Heights)may be difficult to handle at first but hold on. The whole CD flows to the point where it almost sounds like a 64 minute song with one exception - it never gets boring or monotonous (too lazy to check spelling on that
). Without checking liner notes - It is obvious this is a different singer than the one used on the other CD I bought by them but I think he's perfect for this album which if far better than 'Permian Dusk'.
There seems to be no devotion to making any one song better than the others - only different. This is an amazing unknown piece of work.
Now to attempt to describe it.... I can only compare this CD to very early Wuthering Heights with no folk influences and the occasional Boston-like guitar riffs. If you like early WH stuff - You'll likely love this CD as I do. Don't miss it.
