Jerry's married?!
Also, if we raise the minimum wage to the point that they are speaking of, our economy will crumble even more.
Nah. The people at the "top" just need to stop raking in so much money. Trickle down economics never worked and never will.
You can't survive in America making $7.25 or whatever an hour. It's not even possible.
Hence why anyone above college age shouldnt be working at fucking McDonald's. If you're 30 with 5 kids, just off yourself and let Sally Struthers deal with it. Fucking Negars!
People expect too much when paying too little. If I was making $7 an hour, I wouldn't give a shit about you either. You get what you pay for.
When I was working at K-mart, making $4.20 an hour, I had a young mama and her wee boy come through my line out in the Garden Shop. He looked at me and we shared the following conversation:
kid: "When I grow up, I want to work at Kmart!"
me: "No, you don't."
mom: "...thank you!"
me: "Lady, this pays my bills until I'm done with college, that's it."
I worked there for 3 years. I never had to go back. Some people don't have that option. We've all met them. I guess suicide is painless though?
hahahaha oh, shudder. uke:But the crackstain memories stay with you forever. :Spin:
Highly scientific jobs would be about the only exception, no doubt about that. No solution is perfect. Really. Most jobs however are doable by the masses provided they have sufficient will and determination to do so.. and some education beyond highschool.
Increasing minimum wage in a society that promotes corporations to profit as much as possible will actually do what erik somewhat touched on in an earlier post on this page. They will raise their prices to sustain the profits they are already used to, and the only two solutions are if people stop buying their products to dictate this is unacceptable (lol) or government intervention. Can the worker now working for $15 an hour afford a $18 combo meal at McDonalds? Lets put aside the fact of unskilled and uneducated people making as much as positions that require some level of education is laughable - can most of the middle class afford such prices for that matter, when all other associated costs of living inflate as a result as well? The only reason the current model is somewhat feasible is because there are unskilled, low paying jobs... and it really isn't all that sustainable either, you're right. Prices for goods seem to be rising anyway, and with every day that passes the lower and even middle class is being phased out and things will collapse out from under the upper class.
You know what?! THERES NO SOLUTIONS. FUCK THE WORLD. WATCH IT BURN
