I was working on a solo for the bands latest tune and with it I want it to cut right out to the front. What I hear in my head is "Seasons in the Abyss" album and how King's and Hannemen's leads seem to take over and dominate up front and a little off center the instant they do a lead break. I've been a solo doubler lead guy my whole life and that isn't working for me on this song. This tune needs something different and I am having no luck with getting it to sit right. Any advice would be spectacular!

So, do you need writing suggestions or mixing suggestions?

Mixing suggestions. I've got a pretty good idea what I am going to do musically but everything I've tried mixing wise just isn't cutting it. I did a couple of scratch track takes and I'm still fumbling with setting it so the lead takes on the role of the lead VOX, I guess, you know dead center and really in your face. I double tracked (bounced it twice) and that's not it either. It probably has a lot to do with the fact I am only tracking with a preamp, a D.I., GR3 and ATX-gear so the cabs are are being emulated. I don't mind what I'm getting for my rythym tracks but the lead tone is missing something. It sucks that I don't have a place to really crank my rig and mic it up.. Thanks

I can't offer any help mixing wise, but I can say I fucking love the lead tone on Seasons, especially the title track. That raw as fuck cranked Marshall lead tone is just awesome.
