I just got into Amon Amarth and am planning to see them when they come to my town in December. My friend said that one of his friends was trying to get him into a Viking band that had epic battles on stage and he thinks it was Amon Amarth. Is this true?

They've had a few performances with epic Viking battles, yes, these were at Cologne, Germany (correct me if I'm wrong) and at Wacken: Open Air 2006.

Hi there Larry. No, they don't have no "epic battles" on stage. They had a short fight/battle reenactment performed a couple of times in the past. However, at one of the coming shows I'll attempt ;) to get on stage in an attempt to start that "epic battle" you speak off.

My mother informed me this morning that Johan and the band had been rehersing for the upcoming tour. She tells me that included a new "routine", which cracked me up endlessly until she told me to shut up and stop laughing. In my mind, I was picturing them all rehersing that synchronized headbanging they do so well, which then somehow disintegrated into AA doing a Backstreet Boys sort of dance thing to the tune of Asator. My Mom did not see the humor in this.
When they played in Israel the venue had guards with machine guns all set up on the stage. That's probably about as epic as it gets, short of Tomasz getting up there. Or maybe Belgar in his "party hat" (the one from the second Jägermeister video).
