Last week Anvil played in Belgium but had to do the night shift and couldn't see them. At Kit we also had to miss the warm-up show with Anvil so 2 opportunities missed to see one of my fav 80's metal acts...Hahahaha, but yesterday got a mail that Anvil is doing an extra gig in a small club in Belgium and I'm invited !! Like there only will be 100 people or so watching them !!! They will do an oldschool gig and we even got to send in our own top 5 of the songs we like most !! man, am I looking forward to thursday !!

Well, I'm still waiting for a friend to send me some pics, but here's the review already...
So, we were invited to an extra Anvil show in a small pub in the city of Aalst (Belgium). When we arrived it seemed to be indeed small, haha, 75 invited fans and that was it !! The stage was really small ( I dunno, 15 on 15 foot or so!). Anvil played the week before in Belgium and the guys ended up in this little club called "Negasonic". Lips (vocals/guitar) said the pub reminded him to the early days and he would like to play there. Okay, if they really insisted (haha, the question was more than enough I guess) the could play in the club. In 5 days or so invitations were send out and I was lucky to catch 2 tickets. Great as I missed them on the first Belgian gig and on the KIT warmup show. Anvil is one of my fav 80's bands so I was very happy...So me and me buddy Maarten (25 year old oldschool freak) drove up there.
Entrance of 10$ was payed with a smile and short after we arrived some kind of "local heroes" opened the gig, a hardcore/thrash/death band of wich I even didn't bother to ask the name. The vocalist shouted out so hard he passed away after 3 songs, hilarious to see and we were happy it all was finished !!
Than Anvil came on stage and started with "March of the Crabs". The guys really had fun playing here, the public was very responsive from the beginning. I guess all classics were played, to mention some; Jackhammer, Mothra, Metal on Metal, School love, White Rino, Mad Dog, Heat sink, 666, Forged in Fire, Bottom Feeder, etc... I couldn't resist to do some headbanging, haha , Hawk can tell it needs to be good for me to bang my head. Well, every one else was banging too so :) . Anvil was called back 4 times! At the end of the gig they were given a very nice gift: a blue marble plate with embossed Anvil logo and 2 Belgian dates. After the gig the Anvil guys walked into the club and I shook hands with Lips (didn't wash my hands since :) and we talked some about the 80's, when they played at a big metal festival in Belgium (I handed him a flyer of that I still had and he loved it). Really friendly ,friendly guys of Anvil !! Lips also has the great ability to talk funny in between songs like Jon Oliva and John Gallagher do. This makes a gig double as much fun!
All together a real cool experience to see a band like Anvil in such a small club, tickets are pre ordered already if they should pass by next time !!

Anvil has quit a unique style, I love their 80's material, certainly "Metal on Metal" is very worth checking out !!
