Improve hearing skills

I wanted to do these to clip just to see if I'm able to emulate a sound.

The first clip is the first riff of Alive by Blaze, the second can remind you the main riff of Narcosynthesis by Nevermore.
I think that is good sometimes trying to emulate a sound to improve our mixing skills :)
What do you think??
For the recording I used a Jackson RR1 with Bill Lawrence 505XL pickups and a Line6 Spider (the new one) with a standard Marshall 1960 Lead cab.
The mic it's not the usual SM57, it's a PG 56, a mic for Tom and Snare, the one found on the Shure drum mic kit, a very cheap one.
It has a way more fatty tone. The fizzy sound comes from the standard marshall cab, as you know it's not very warm the G12T-75 speaker. (Andy how can you obtain that great sound from that speaker?)
Sorry for the performance it's pretty horrible
