Speaker comparison samples (Bogner, Mesa, VHT...) from a Finnish magazine

Finnish magazine Riffi tested these following cabs:

Puhdas = Clean
Särö = Distortion
Alakaappi = Base Cabinet

The amp they used was a Peavey JSX. All samples were reamped using these microphones and a Millenia mic pre:

Shure SM57
Sennheiser e609
Shure SM81
DPA 4006 (one meter from the cab)

(they apparently confused the G12 and the V30 in the Bogner cabinet)

Bogner did best on all sounds/mics imo. maybe a 2x12 isn't such a bad idea!!
Krank and mesa was cool on most aswell, but krank staid behind when i came to cleans imo..

But i dunno.. how good/reliable are these kinda tests right?

Yeah, I haven't listened to these, but I think there can't be a definitive best, just a "best for a given situation".
