The administrator pays out of their own pocket. It's usually financed by the ads on the site. Then there's donations etc.

out of all the merchandise, CDs, ticket sales and love the fans here give to the band, i dont think its entirely out of the question that they provide a small portion of the forum to unite the fans in broad/diverse musical discussion. afterall, its what mike claims is wrong with the metal scene in particular, i think the first step would be to promote knowledge and education.

everytime i see some joker about to pee his pants from excitement when giving one of those obligatory and cliched "metal horns" pictures with mike or peter, it does remind me how important it is for bands to appreciate their fans and be courteous...as much as it might be pathetic and irritating to watch.
