I'm lookinf for a really good sounding pair of earbuds....

not for mixing, but I definitely want a really good sound (been walking around with AGK k240 on my ipod lately....want something less obvious now ;)

any recommendations?

I use the shure se-310s. They rule! Best non-can headphone i've ever used. I also have a pair of grados, a pair of sennheisers, some high-end sony cans... The 310 is up there with the best of them as long as the seal is tight.

My audiologist also makes custom ear fittings for them so I might be looking into that soon

I love my Shure E2c earphones. There are newer and better ones out now, but if they're a bit too expensive for you, the E2c headphones can be had a lot cheaper now.

I have the gx200's and there clean, warm, clear and have an optional large earplug attachment that kills almost all outside sound. Kinda sounds (isolation wise) like listening to music in a car (with a decent stereo of course). When i got them i found i was listening to music a lot lower than i would normally since i didnt have to cover up outside sound anymore.

My Shure E4C's are pretty nice. They need a good few hours to break in before you get the bass levels as they should be, but isolation is superb. It's like listening to something on your stereo in your room without any other noise in the room.

The Apple ones suck, in all honesty. I'm on my second set of CX300's (got the first ones caught on a handrail I walked by and snapped the cable on the left ear), and I couldn't be happier. They sound great and isolate well, and I actually use them more than my HD280's or HD212's when tracking other people in the same room!

Ultimate Ears Superfi 5EB....love 'em. Comfortable, no ear fatigue...great on longhaul flights....and the leads don't split like the Shure's I used to have.

I'm not trendy enough for earbuds, so I've been rocking 'phones like these for years (just got my newest pair):

Hello 1999! Woohoo!! But in all seriousness, they're A LOT easier to keep track of in a crowded backpack compared with earbuds.

I think the Shure SCL2s are good for their money,.. I am currently investing in some myself!
