In flames new album

I've spun it through twice but I'm still not into it. The production is good, some really good hooks here and there, nice old school In Flames guitar licks, but still... Then again, I hated A Sense Of Purpose until I had listened it through a dozen times, and suddenly I fell in love with it.

I think they're striking a better balance now between their new sound and their old sound, so good for them on that. Maybe this is what they were really trying to do since 2004. Some of the songs are still shitty imo, but I really liked A New Dawn and various parts of others.

As a whole I really like this album. It's a major step up from "A Sense of Purpose," an album I really don't like. However, I am not liking Anders's vocal style. It sounds like he's struggling. They claim to have spent more time on vocals on this album than any other in the studio diaries but I don't hear it.

In Flames I don't trust. :) Dark Tranquillity is my swedish melodeath band of choice for lots of reasons.

I'm in love with this new album as well. Definitely the best thing they've done since Reroute To Remain, imo of course. I absolutely loved Reroute, and there are lots of moments reminiscent of that album on this new one. Their last album was pretty good too, but honestly I really like just about all of their albums. I'm not one of those haters that compare every little nuance to their older albums. I think for the most part they have stayed true to their swedish melodic death metal roots and just played music they enjoyed. Sure, it's changed over the years and maybe gotten a bit "Nu", but it still slams 99% of the scene-core metal shit being pushed out nowadays.

Back on topic, my favorite tracks are "Sounds of a Playground Fading", "Deliver Us", and "Where the Dead Ships Dwell" (I LOVE THIS SONG!). I love all the songs on the album, but I find myself hitting repeat on those most!

The mix is pure sex. As for the songs, I didnt heard the whole album yet but for what I heard, is really, really good. Their ability to write catchy riffs it´s their strong point.
