In Need of Brutality

Hatebreeder

Pizzicato Heartstrings
In need of some brutal death. I've got some specific requests, but feel free to add your own recommendations.

Skinless - how are they?

Dying Fetus - I'm quite tempted to purchase War of Attrition, but are any of their other albums a little less...generic?

Vital Remains - where to start? I'm not terribly fond of Glen Benton's vocals, but I'm willing to cope if the music is good. What about their back catalogue?

Skinless: Terrible

Dying Fetus: I'm not really into the whole slam death thing but they're pretty good as far as new death metal goes.

Vital Remains: They don't really do anything for me.

Fear not, CC is here!

Hatebreeder first off I'll answer your questions. Skinless are OK and are probably a good intro to brutal death. Dying Fetus are very good, as well as being another good intro band. I would suggest any album except Stop at Nothing. Vital Remains are not a band I really care for.

Now I'll give you some of my recommendations. I tend to split brutal death into two categories: "slam" and "blasting/tech". Slam is slower, groovier stuff while "blasting/tech" is surprisingly enough faster and more technical. Here are my favorites for those two categories.

SLAM:
Devourment - 1.3.8: This is a compilation of one new song, three demo songs, and the album Molesting the Decapitated. Everything on this is great. This is the slam death album
Digested Flesh - The Answer to Infection: Some sick vocals and monumental slams.
Infected Malignity - The Malignity Born From Despair: More growly vocals and some sweet riffs mixed in with slams. Beware this band's new stuff however, as they pussied out.

BLAST:
Disgorge - Cranial Impalement: Amazing vocals and great riffs and blasts. Just a brutal album from start to finish.
Amputated Genitals - Similar to Disgorge. Cool riffs and good vocals.
Cenotaph - Pseudo Verminal Cadaverium: Endlessly interesting album where each song is an energetic ride. Familiarize yourself with the genre a little before listening though, it can be overwhelming.

I hope this helped. Tell my what you liked, I have plenty more recommendations where these came from.

cookiecutter what would you consider bands like Deeds Of Flesh and Severed Savior?

The 3 bands you listed:

Skinless - They're typical death-grind but they can be pretty funny. Go read their lyrics to see what I mean . Some of their songs are bloody catchy and groovy but it gets predictable.

Dying Fetus - If you did not know, they went through many line up changes. In the past, they were slow, brooding death grind then slam death grind, to more technical death grind now. But, if you did not care for War of Attrition, I doubt you'd like any of their other work. Listen to their earlier releases if you want to try them out anyway.

Vital Remains - I only heard Dechristinized and some songs from the new album. Dechristianized is pretty good melodic death metal. No, not in that Gothenburg sense.

I recommend:

Carcass (early)
Exhumed
Impaled
Suffocation
Monstrosity
Incantation
Mutilation (Pol)
Mortem
Koldborn

Skinless - Awesome.

Dying Fetus - Shit.

Haha yeah. Especially on the intros to songs.

"We are not just going to shoot the bastards...we are going to carve out their living guts and and use them to grease the treads of our tanks. We're going to murder those bastards by the bushel."

Lulz.

Devourment is awesome. So is Severed Savior-Brutality is Law

But here it is:

Dripping-Disintegration Of Thought Patterns During A Synthetic Mind Traveling Bliss.

It will be a listening experience unlike any other. I promise.

Dripping's Bring The Suffering is really good as well. It's a sort of compilation with demo tracks and unreleased stuff, etc.

Skinless is okay.

Dying Fetus is shit except for Stop At Nothing

Vital Remains have some incredible passages and songs, but for the most part they're boring. Listen to the song Dechristianize, from the album Dechristianize and you'll know what I mean.

As for recommendations:

Emeth
Wormed
Defeated Sanity

Blasting, although Deeds of Flesh is very unique.

Most people think the opposite. Stop At Nothing isn't terrible, but it's not as good as their other albums.

Good stuff

The other stuff lacks replay value. The songs get stuck in my head after maybe 2 or 3 listens, which is pathetic. Bands like All Shall Perish last 40 listens... Joo know what I mean?

Thanks by the way :)

I hear Origin are pretty brutal.

Deepred and Disavowed are also brutal. Not sure how original they are.

I like Horde of Worms - Self titled and Dreams and Dying Eyes. Pretty brutal and interesting stuff. Not like all the other kids.
