In The Absence Of Truth

Got it last week finally. absolutely love it. much more of a cruisy trippy record, something you can just drift away listening to. plenty of lovely repeating motifs and atmospheres to make this my 2nd favourite isis record after oceanic. will be on high rotation for some time

First listen I wasn't impressed and I didn't think it would grow on me, but amazingly it does! I like it quite a lot now.

+1

Oceanic is still my fav, but I think ITAOT is a notch above Panopticon.

The main difference between Isis and Tool is that Isis aren't a bunch of obnoxious blowhards. Tool's music isn't awful (all that filler aside...), but everything else about them is. Even Tool hates Tool fans.

The tool reference I get from this album is in the bass sound, there are times where the bass player has the exact same tone as the bass in tool. Apart from that that is where it ends for me. Isis>Tool. I still love tool, but Isis ftw.

Well I think it's fairly obvious that there is a Tool influence but as other people have said, I think it just adds to the music. Isis don't copy, they build upon their influences to the point where the influence is noticeable but no way is it a big factor listening wise.

Aside from that, still loving it. I haven't listened to Isis for a little while but seeing this thread made me chuck a bit on. Sounds as good as always!

sounds like a pretty generic band from that vid

:erk: what would you consider "not generic"?

Let me just add, Isis has the best clothing design of any band. I have two tees and a hoodie, and they all look really good and fit. Most metal bands shirts are way too big and have some shit album art on the front. Aaron Turner is the fucking man.
