ISIS:

you didn't back up your claim that "This will be one of the 10 (that might be pushing it) "metal" albums that will be even remotely interesting" which makes you a hypocrite

I did and it blows, but that's besides the point

if you don't have to then no one else does and you can't have a shit fit every time your fav band gets insulted

You gave it a whole one listen? (doubt it.) Wow, its such a shallow and simple album so thats all it takes! Theres a few bands I will actually get angry about when people insult them, and ISIS is one of them. If you honestly dislike them then oh well, keep enjoying what you enjoy cause that's all that matters for sure, but forget about me listening to Moonsorrow for a second and give them a real chance cause I promise it will be worth it. Last drunk post of the night, I won't check this again for a little while, latersssssssssssssss.

oceanic and panopticon are really good albums. i love how isis has gathered their influences (neurosis etc.) and given them a new twist. oceanic really sounded fresh when it came out. panopticon was essentially more of the same idea but still sounded good. i hope they do something more innovative this time around, though. the sample seems to indicate that they are going in for a more mellow sound.
hmm i thought a couple people above who are saying that isis blows had earlier expressed appreciation for cult of luna (at least the latest album). i might be remembering incorrectly, but if not, this is a little surprising.

That would be pretty messed up if true, because the new Cult of Luna reminds me of Panopticon fairly heavily, but it is not even close to being as good. I don't really even like it that much. I actually thought it was pretty boring and the songs didn't really go anywhere.

So far, I have to agree, but I'm still hammering the album out though - I can't say I feel 100% conclusive yet.

In the Absence of Truth sounds like Panopticon with better production, with less atmospherics and a lighter feel. As a positive though, Aaron sounds like he's finally learning to do grim vocals properly. He sounds much more controlled on this record, the results are positive and less painful.

PS re: my earlier post: its not that Isis suck, its that there's too many bands seemingly doing the same thing. It seems on the threshold of becoming the new Gothenburg in some ways. And when I saw Isis live, I was disappointed in a number of ways... but they do not suck.

Isis is the best live band I've seen. I don't care that Aaron doesn't say a word between songs during the show. I like that. I like that they don't move around, or jump up and down like morons. They play for the duration of their set, and don't waste 20 minutes like Opeth does. They do nothing that detracts from the music.

It should be one of the few memorable releases of the year.
