Indie/Rock band Mix

I'd add some predelay to that snare to make it pop out more, unless that's all room, then I'd blend in a bit of sampled snare

The snare amb is mostly room mic and o/h then a big verb on the close mics with 35ms pre delay and a slate room sample, there is also a slate sample mixed in with the close mics to add some crack.

I might try clamping down on the room mic with a fast compressor to tame the snare a bit and bring in the verb more

Hey I gave this mix a shot before hearing yours, and I really how different they are. I really like what you did with the bass. Everything is so clear during the chorus too.

Here's my version. I'll probably clear up the bass and parallel compress the drums or something. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1648192/Eye For An Eye2.mp3

Cheers man i tried those tip's slate gave here about mixing bass http://www.ultimatemetal.com/forum/production-tips/312429-some-cool-bass-mixing-tips.html

I also have a distorted bass track mixed in as well.

Id lower the bass a bit on yours its stepping over all the other elements of the mix try some automation + a little multi band comp to tidy up the low mids.
Also the kick needs to be heard more try raising it and adding some high end to bring out a little click (not to much just enough so it cuts a little better) i pumped in the low end on the o/h and room mics really beefed up the original kick and i mixed in some slate as well for consistancy

alright, listened again with the ProFire interface and I noticed that the output jack on the mbp is a really colored resource hog. Like the sound changed a lot when I just changed from that tiny hole to the headphone out on the Profire. I did some little tweaks here and there and this is how it turned out. No automation or anything. Hope you like the tuned vocals on the choruses, went a bit overboard on purpose :loco:

Thx, Jid.

Hey man not bad, bass and drums are grovving well, only thing id say is maybe go a bit easyer on the snare sample during the verse its a bit to aggressive for the style of music.

Vocals are very muffled sounding and kind of seem tacked on to the mix try boosting the high end a bit more on them also cut the lows of the vocs before they hit any verb/delay bus as it only tends to mud up a mix you only really want the fx to affect the mid-range of the vocs
