Hey guys, this is my first 'serious' production project, or whatever. It's a song called Tokyo by my band Kakera. I'm really inexperienced with all this stuff, but I tried my best and now I came here for guidance! I think it all sounds decent, but would like your input on how to improve it. Please try to keep the language relatively newbie-friendly though :D. On another note, I do have vocal tracks for the whole song, but I didn't get it to sound good at all, tbh it just sounded like shit. If someone would like to check the tracks to see if there's something wrong with them (or if I just suck :(), just PM me. Thanks alot everyone!

Pretty good starting point up there. However guitars are burying other elements too radically. Also hihat could use some serious EQing.
Are you planning to have some vocals going on there?

Yes, the plan is to have vocals. We spent alot of time recording vocals for the song and I sat with it for hours trying to make it sound like not-shit, sadly I failed miserably. Therefore I left them out of the mix. Could you go into more detail please? And try to keep it simple so I understand what you mean :D Thanks alot.

Drums are pretty much inaudible. All I hear are the guitars and rides/hats. Bring the OHs down and the drums way up. Guitars sound undergained and kinda nasally, try adding more gain, cutting some lower-mids. I can't hear any bass guitar, either.

Alright, I'll check out the stuff you mentioned. What would be the best way to add more gain on the guitars then? I've maxed out the ampsim and the tubescreamer. Thanks dude :)

Just check the instrument volumes at first sight. Geez, start from kick and snare, and mute everything else. Make em play together, then start from room mic, lift it until you get some space going on there, then lift cymbals a bit higher than the cymbals on room track, rest of you'll get. hopefully.. just a tip not a rule.
