instrumentals

apart from metallica's orion and the call of cthulhu, i love to listen to part II (on the album "mark of judas" - darkest hour).
and cosmic sea (from the death's album "human") is a great song too.

anyway, i quite like metal instrumental songs.
but it seems to me that many bands are afraid of crafting them, somehow.

maybe they're afraid to sound boring without the vocals.

thanks a lot so far, people, that gives me something to try out and listen through :)
so far i only got

1. apocalyptica - inquisition symphony
2. dimmu borgir - perfection or vanity (but i might kick that out again)
3. metallica - to live is to die (@marduk - that's actually cliff burton mumbling stuff in the end ;))
4. metallica - orion
5. metallica - call of ktulu
6. novembre - foto blu infinito
7. xytras - glänzendes königreich (samael - shining kingdom w/ piano)

so there's plenty of room still.
i think i'll just settle for one (not "one") off metallica and take the rest from your suggestions. thanks again, and if you come up with more ideas, be sure to post!

How about these :

Primordial - What Sleeps Within
Primordial - The Cruel Sea
Therion - Opus Eclipse
Iced Earth - The Funeral
Iced Earth - 1776
Finntroll - Bakom Varje Fura (Just for the fun of it ;) )
Arch Enemy - Hybrids of Steel
Apocalyptica - Prologue (Apprehension)

Take away acoustic, symphonic, atmospheric, intros and short songs and there's not much left...

Candlemass - Into The Unfathomed Tower
Falkenbach - Gjallar
Ulysses Siren - Leviathan (snippet here: http://www.ulysses-siren.com)
Death Angel - The Ultra-Violence
Metal Church - Merciless Onslaught
Sacrilege - Sorg
Iron Maiden - Genghis Khan

Thats not a very satisfying list though. I know theres more but I cant think of any right now :erk:

And of course, stupid of me for having forgotten about it, "And the World Returned" from At the Gates.
