I tossed something together last night. I'd love to make it a t-shirt color other than black but I figure there's more people who don't want it any other color than people who do (like myself).

I'm all for a color other than black as well. Not that there can't be black shirts as well, obviously, perhaps just a small number of shirts in another color as well (with the same graphics as the black shirt), maybe as a test case. There are so many metal shirts that are black, it's sometimes cool to have a different color. And by that, I don't mean white!

One of my favorite shirts is a textured blue Blind Guardian "Imaginations From The Other Side" shirt. It has the front and back cover images of the album on the front and back of the shirt, over a background that is textured in almost a tie-dye fashion between lighter and darker blue. I'm sure some other people here have that shirt. I think that textured design would work well with red and gray as well. Or, even just a solid red, blue, or gray would be cool. Black shirts can get monotonous after a while, heh.

I really have liked the design of the shirts in the past. I hope this years live up to that standard!

I'd like to point out that my post was intended for the *fans* that frequent this forum. It was meant as a win-win situation as I get a new perspective and you get critical exposure. I would ask that you not pass along this information to professional graphic designers (who have no clue about the festival) that are looking to get paid for their work. They are not very pleasant with their emails.

It's hard to come up with anything that can symbolize a festival that means so many things to different people.

I have a hokey idea . Maybe a circledesign with a pheonix flying forward in the center around him and there are like 4 sections blended together which contain different weathers or climates. In one corner you have like 3 or 4 columns of twisting tornadoes, in the other corner a snowstorm, bottom one drought/desert and maybe something else. Kinda like the weather we have in Atlanta and the pheonix is the unstoppable force of Progpower that keeps coming back stronger and stronger no matter what.

I like this idea.

Yeah, I can't imagine professional designers who don't attend the festival wanting non monetary payment.

By the way, what is the deadline for a mock-up or some kind of proof? I received the high resolution files only a few days ago, so I might be behind the "learning curve" on this one.

Glen, any specifics we should know concerning time frames?

I'm fairly certain that Howard the Duck has no bearing on the potential new t-shirt designs...

Not to derail the thread but, I just recieved an email saying that my artwork submission for the new Metal Church Cd was accepted!
While I didn't make the cover, they said there were several great pieces from people so they decided to use the runners up for the inside booklet. Which is where mine shall be placed!

Pretty good stuff, bro. I really like most of those pieces... Was that a for a record company-sponsored contest or something? I gave up on those design contests as it was too similar to designing on spec. But damn, you always get good pieces you can use for other work from those situations.

HI Glenn, I´ve just wanted to say that I didn´t do the designs for any payment, it doesn´t matter to me. The most important reason is that I became a fan three years ago and I have the others tshirts (2005, 2006, 2007) so this opportunity gave me a cool reason to make my own graphics and even more... that you can choose one of my designs and everyone could wear it!.

I have more designs, just tell me if I can send them to you...
