I noticed something today on my ProRMP.

It lists the patent number on the casing unlike the photo on the radial engineering website.

A quick search of the patent number leads us to this:

http://www.patentstorm.us/patents/6005950.html

Note the name of the inventor and the year on the right hand side of the page.

Radial Engineering must license the patent from Cuniberti. The Reamp and ProRMP most likely sound very similar. The pdf regarding the patent on the site is also a very interesting read.

What you should be worried about is components used and particularly the transformer, other than that most reamp boxes are pretty much the same.

Yeah, apparently Cuniberti is really protective of that; when I was talking to Jonathan Little (of Little Labs) at NAMM, he said he originally put the term "reamp" on the Redeye (not as its name, it was still the Redeye, but where it lists the stuff it can do), but Cuniberti bitched at him and like threatened legal action and stuff...

from what i understand, there's really not much special going on with the schematics/circuitry, but as someone mentioned above, it's the transformer that makes all the difference

Wouldn't it have to be a specific kind, though? Cuz it'd be awesome if it were possible to just get a ProRMP for $100 and get a totally bitchin' transformer for it that'd put it on or above the Cuniberti level (not like I need to worry, I have a Redeye, but it's cool in theory :))
