Hi do you have any suggestions for a good quality soundcard interface for DI bass and guitars. The preamp in it will be used with the countryman type 85 DI. Only one preamp is needed and it has to be able to be used with a range of different software, not just with one that comes with the interface. Needs to be usb too. Budget up to $400. Thankyou. Also, will these two preamps be ok? Focusright sapphire pro 40 or tascam us4x4

I have a Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 for years and years now and hasn't let me down since , great unit for sure ! Tis only firewire though . . .

But , if you have that kind of a budget and only need one preamp isn't a Audient id22 something ? That is even a step up in comparison with the Focusrite

BTW if you had nice preamp or interface with optical adat (up to 8 tracks) and want to go bit cheaper - get miniDSP USB streamer. It's USB audio interface with only adat in/out - created specially for that.

I recently got an ID22 and I'm liking it so far. Absolutely no complaints quality-wise. The construction is top-notch, preamps are solid. Headphone amp could be a little stronger.

I've been looking into the ID series myself. Any issues with drivers?

None until now. They could've added an option to remember the last headphone gain and overall volume used. Every time you reset the interface it starts from zero.

Sorry I can't give you more details but I mostly used it to edit and mix outside the studio.
