Anyone else getting annoyed at the amount of ads throughout the internet? Lately it seems like I'm barraged with fly-out ads from the bottom, and right side frames, and lately I've even started seeing McDonalds ads and the like inserted onto pictures on other forums where guys are showing pics of their guitars. Ughhh.

It's free anyway so entirely worth it just for not having to put up with Youtube adverts and Facebook spam, the rest is a bonus.

They've been finding ways around AdBlock now, at least on the yahoo home page.

Put a black box around the ad myself to show it. Hope the people at adblock can update that shit away asap.

Line666, dude, seriously, you are the man!:headbang: This prog seems to be quite efficient. If there are something very, very annoying, were those fucking adds popping out of nowhere, and those sites that opened more of a dozen windows? :zombie:

There's also AdBlock Plus. They're very similar but made by different people. I like AdBlock Plus better, but both are good. To be honest my eyes are used to ignore ads by default, I installed this extension mostly due to YouTube video ads.

@Terminus:
You can easily create a filter yourself. Just click on the AdBlock icon on the browser and there should be an option for you to indicate what element on the page is bothering you.

I was used to pretty much ignoring them, too. But it seems in the last two months they unleashed a bunch more strategies for pop ups and attaching to pics, etc.

ADBLOCK ftw. But I hate how some streaming sites are catching on, sometimes videos won't play until you disable adblock also before you know it adblock will carry ads of its on. $$$ always talks.

For what it's worth - if you adblock Ultimate Metal you're actually hurting our ability to survive.

We've already been dropped by Google Ads (our main source of income) due to "inappropriate" content posted across the site (Google had gotten really strict). We're now trying to book direct ads - which you guys should benefit from (deals on plugins, recording, gear, CD purchases, etc.).

Please add us to your whitelist in ad block - it helps us out (and hopefully you as well).

Littlejohn - in the near future we hope to eliminate the app message and have our site automatically work on mobile devices.

Does this mean the "inappropriate" content can return now google isn't the ad stream?

(had adblock turned off on this site anyway)

Not really since Google could find a reason to delist our site from their search engine, which would kill our traffic.

They have their hands around site owner's throats at this point - but Google is where all the traffic is so I still have to cater to their guidelines -catch 22.

I appreciate the white listing! If you have us blocked you missed some great sales the last 1-2 months on plugins, drum samples, etc.

More coming soon... :)

I think the worst thing is when you go to some website to download something, be it a program, folder, song, whatever, and there are about 15 different "Download" buttons. Fuck I think it's this one... "click" GOD DAMMIT! I dont want fucking Google toolbar!!!!!!! FUCK... well it must be this one... AVG... :yell:

You can usually recognize the right link easily if you look at the URL in your bottom bar - for example if it points to the same domain.

It's a puzzle to weed out the intelligent ones. Those who are smart enough to get the right link survive, those who click the wrong one get a virus. Still very annoying though.
