Why do people want to meet the persons behind their favourite music at all? It only leads to disappointment when they find out that the idolized images they have of their heroes don't match reality. Kill your idols.

In some instances -- yeah, it has been supremely disconcerting to meet bands whose music I adore and find that they're supremely shallow, superficial clods. Definitely takes some of the pleasure out of listening to their work . . .

But, on the other hand, I can list quite a few musicians whose musical integrity I witnessed first-hand and it required me to re-examine my initial impressions of their cds.

Works both ways . . .
