Iron Maiden "Early Years" DVD (MUST OWN)

TD

HAS INTEGRITY
Picked this up for my best friends B-day, and before he left to go snowboarding this weekend, he left the DVD w/ me, as he said "you must watch this thing." It may be the best music documentary I've seen. Very thorough, and very well put together. And the old concert footage is simply amazing. If you like Maiden at all, then by all means, purchase this thing.

OMG, Ty and I agree on something.
You and I actually agree on a lot of stuff, we are also both bull-headed, argument prone, and well read individuals. That's a bad mix. I'm glad we don't bar hop together. That would get ugly. It's bad enough at the little Irish Pub that I frequent here in Chilli. It's got this pseudo - intellectual vibe going on. The owner graduated at the head of his class from Notre Dame, so the venue is frequented by the local lawyers and doctors and college kids. Some very pompous, some quite cool. Someone is always reading a book, racing to finish the NY Times crossword in time (that is a challenge btw) or playing chess. But once too much Guiness and Dewars gets consumed, look out. :loco: The conversations on religion and politics are great.

At any rate, any one who says they "like" metal or heavy rock must have an appreciation for what sabbath, priest, and maiden did for the genre. I laugh at any one who doesn't listen to them and calls themselves a metal fan. I'm lucky enough to have lived thru the whole thing. When I was a kid, I heard KISS and AC/DC, and said "rad!" Then I heard Maiden and Priest and went "even more rad!!!" Then came Slayer, Pantera, and Anthrax, and here we are.

This DVD rules! It made me remember why I loved Maiden so much back in the day. The Dianno stuff is my fav and the Beast on the Road stuff is great too. I was lucky enough to see them with Dianno on the Killers tour. I liked most of the other albums up to Seventh Son, but nothing compares to the first three.
I couldn't even go to see them live now. I wouldn't enjoy it. As you can see in the video they played with fire then, now they put on a show, if you know what I mean. I'm not saying they're bad now, it would be better than going to see the Motley Crue reunion.

Yes, not many bands can maintain that fire. But Maiden are sooooo damned proficient. Going to see Maiden is like going to the opera for me. I just sit back in awe the whole night. I'm looking forward to another tour sometime soon.

(And yes, Motley Crue suck massively.)

Too cool, KISS in grade school, AC/DC grade and middle school, then Maiden, Priest and Ozzy. Took all that into sophmore year(also had Aerosmith, Deep Purple, Terrible Ted and Alice Cooper in grade school) and hooked up with hardcore fans that, at first, we just mudslinged. We could only agree on Motorhead. Then Megaforce released Anthrax, Raven and Metallica. I bought them all (even an Exciter LP) except Metallica b/c the name and the cover just looked stupid. I had heard Raven on Metalshop and thought they ruled except for the vox. Had one idiot tell me FOM wasn't fast like hardcore. So of course one of them picks up Metallica and it was pandamoneum. But they listened to me after that and I turned them on to 'Thrax, Slayer, S.O.D, Armored Saint's first albums (and numerous others, Venom, Running Wild, Metal Church, Accept, Megadeth). I guess that's why I was (am) Metalhead Ted or Ted the Metalhead or Da-Man-Ted ot Ted Shredd or....:loco:

That is why you are one of the few people on here I even bother having a dialogue with, that story is cool as hell. And you have a brain too
:headbang: Are you going to the Hagar Cinco Da Cabo show in Deeeeetroit Rock City??? Let me know. I just might go!!

Gotta Love Maiden ... I mean I love Anthrax like a rat does cheese but nothing touches Maiden ... how freaky that I jumped on this board as I was watching Maiden England ... I am meaning to get the Early Years DVD for a while now... Rock in Rio is just magic!

My life long wish is to finally see them live as they don't tour Australia!!! Hence why when I visit Europe next year that is a top priority for me (praying they will be touring!).

Ah nothing beats OLD SCHOOL ... and I mean real Old School like early 80s!

Preorderred it when it was first available, it came out the same day as GOTE had that pre orderred as well. Even with my ADD I sit thorugh the whole documentary and concert footage.

I passed on this for the Rock in Rio disc. I feel like an idiot.

Not that the RoR show was bad (although the vocals weren't in the mix high enough)...I'll eventually get this one...is there gonna be a part II for later stuff?

ROCK IN RIO DESTROYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now how about Live After Death on DVD in 5.1 DTS eh?

Live After Death is rumored to be on the next DVD release.

Rock in RIo boogles my mind 250000 fans for 1 show, even a few nuns (look close during Wrathchild, I think). With a decent stereo you can here the audience singing along word for word with every song, even clearer than Live After Death.

Early Days is at least the very least a must SEE for any metal fan.

My freshman year @ OSU "Somwhere in Time" first came out. I just picked it up again today for $2 to play in my piece a shit vehicle. But you know what? It RULES! "...those wasted years".
