As I said in another thread now I'm again in command of my collection, so I starting to review lots of albums I hadn't hear in months as I was moving out of USA back to Costa Rica. Also of course hearing the new stuff to get acquainted with it a bit more.
Yesterday in the middle of a chat I made a joke and Angelwitch73 decided to play "Powerslave", so i decided to play "Killers".
"Killers" was heard for the first time at the begining of 1984 in my old house. I was bran new into college and a guy I met there (now my dear old friend Darren) was also into metal and with access to a huge vinyl collection. So he was my provider (you know the doctor for the junkie :Smokedev: ) of lots of music in the beginning. That day 20 years ago he landed at home with Def Leppard "High'N'Dry" and Iron Maiden "Killers". It was my first with Dianno and frankly it blew me off my socks.
Yesterday when I play it again it was like a wiper of time, 20 years and still makes me shiver. From the elegance of the intro "The Ides Of March" to the the fucking awsome 'Purgatory' (if that ain't power metal... ). From the energetic 'Wratchild' to the beautiful 'Prodigal Son', from the tilte track to the highly melodic 'Twilight Zone'. I mean the album may have some fillers but they are so good that no one noticed
Ain't great when an album can still move you as good as the day you first heard it?
We are the oldschool, we lived the best of times, we are the blessed ones.
