Wyvern .. im Costa Rican/American ... I'm more of a Bruce Fan... always have been.. he has more range.. though i like Dianno as well... my fave maiden album of all time is without a doubt Live After Death even though its a live album.. they by far play their songs better live then the recording itself...

1. Live After Death
2. Number of the Beast
3. Somewhere in Time
4. Seventh Son of the Seventh Son
5. Powerslave
Welcome to the board ;)

Is good to have someone else from here (sort off :p ). I was believing that nobody else here is interested in forums or to talk about the bands situation here (very bad as I hear lately). I hadn't found yet people form here in serious forums of any kind, even if I know the metalhead movement here since the mid-80s and lately Kreator, Rata Blanca, Cannibal Corpse, Helloween, Gamma Ray/Masterplan, Marduk had played here (as for old school throughout the years we had Jethro Tull, Deep Purple, Yes, Rick Wakeman).

In any case, I like Bruce too over Dianno(but I'm higly dissapointed with the comeback albums), so my list will be (overall):

1) "Piece Of Mind"
2) "Killers"
3) "Powerslave"
4) "The Number Of The Beast"
5) "Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son"

I can't stand anything with Paul on it. His lack of a voice really drags those records down. I wish that they would have re-recorded both of those records with Bruce's vocals on them! Yeah, you heard right, with Bruce on them! Bruce even with showing his age, can smoke Paul any day! Paul is like David Lee Roth, always reminding people of what he once was. Someone tell this asshole that he only recorded two records with them?! I'm surprised he hasn't done a record of Bruce era Maiden!!! That's how bad this guy wants attention. What's that Live record he did from Brazil? Live Killers?! Shit's mainly Maiden stuff. Can you imagine? You go on tour & you're playing shit that was recorded 22 years or so ago?! And that's your claim to fame?! I full expect this knuckle dragger to play Vegas next with a lounge band!!!!!
SiXXSWINE-Cos' I'm A Wrath Child!!!!!!!!! But only if Bruce is Singing It!!!!!!!!

Easy there man, haha. True, Paul Di'Anno is an asshole without his own personality nowadays. He was awesome on those records though! His voice went perfect with the music, while not professionally perfect he had a lot of soul and attitude.

I agree that Paul post-Maiden stuff (live especially) is pathetically connected to old glories. But he wasn't a bad singer, just like Balze he wasn't the best for Maiden. On the other hand "Killers" is so good that I barely can conceive anyone else singing on it, on the basis that the album is perfect as it is, so I'll never try to improve it. I hope people understand me, is kind of fuzzy from this side

Killers is a great album. IMO, Paul was the best singer in Maiden. The title track is defintely the best song on the album followed by Twilight Zone and Purgatory.

Sounds like KISS to me.

Di'Anno was five thousand times better than "Balze". :D
Eh, of course:rolleyes: ! But still Di'Anno wasn't made for what IM needed as a singer and live frontman. Bayley of course was much less qualified, but I guess Harris still rules the band to his own ideas.

To me Tim Owens' case was different, yes he will never be Rob Halford. But he was a suitable replacement as a singer and frontman...but the composition by Glenn Tipton was :puke: .

Anyway, judging the albums since "No Prayer For The Dying" ALL the way up to "Dance Of Death", "Killers" still rule upon them IMO.

Well, I guess you don't feel the same?
And yeah, that does sound like KISS too!
Also who said Paul is 1,000 times better than Blaze?!
That's just plain silly. Someone needs to have their head examined.... Keep in mind I don't care for Blaze either!
But I will defend the guy, on this one!

Hold up man...Di'Anno was perfect for the music they played at the time. Bruce was perfect for the epic masterpieces of their later years, but Di'Anno's voice fit the rocking NWOBHM of their first albums like a glove. From the videos I've seen, Paul's stage prescence was awesome, he was a very charismatic singer. He wont measure up to Bruce and his "I NEED A JUNGLE GYM ON THE STAGE BECAUSE I'M SO ENERGETIC AND EXCITED" stage flair, but pretty good nonetheless. :D

EDIT: Paul would do great on most of Number of the Beast, but would be awful come Hallowed Be Thy Name, and the rest of the albums to follow. Bruce was a part of the bands progression, not just a new singer.

I agree. Di'Anno's voice sound great with the more raw sound of the first 2 albums.

@ JP and Greeno: I never said otherwise but as JP pointed the progression of the band eliminated him from the equation. Of course if they wanted to keep singing 'Running Free' (awsome fucking song!) Di'Anno would have been enough.

Now Blaze on the other hand....He isn't that only thing that was in the equation of the X Factor and Virtual XI's suckage. It was pretty much Steve Harris's go through the motions songwriting that he had adapted "No Prayer For The Dying"-on. Live however...Blaze SUCKED at singing the older material; he flat out just didn't have the right voice for it.

It's good that they're writing strong songs again.

Where? "Brave New World" is a weak album (all and all it should have been the follow-up to "Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son"), and "Dance Of Death" is just plain horrible :yuk: barely good for Blaze.

Both those albums were slightly average, but come on. You can't disagree when one says "The songs 'New Frontier' and 'Ghost of the Navigator' are better than Virtual and X Factor in entirety".
