Let me explain that...
In metal there are only a few pioneering artists accelerating musical boundaries in the way stravinsky, berlioz, and other pre-popular 20th centyrt music composers did. TO ME, Meshuggah blow open rhythmic and musical doors the way The Rite did in 1909. Most 'bands' don't care to explore sonically apart from CHUGGAH breakdown, or throwback heavy metal.
It's amazing TO ME how Meshuggah crosses over genres--I had a conversation one night with Counterstrike, a South African Drum and Bass DJ, and he told me how much he was into Meshuggah. I know a LOT of people who dislike metal, but love Meshuggah almost to the point of obsession.
If you're a fan of music, and you don't at least appreciate that swedish machine, you're just might be into it for the wrong reasons.
