Is Australia a Island or a Continent?

Fuck you Koichi! You're that prick that followed me home the other night aren't you? That's how you know where I live. No Australian I've ever met is patriotic, except maybe a few old diggers who fought for the country. If it was up to me I would live overseas, no risk at all. Too many fuckwits like you live here.

I beg to differ, this page alone show's people who are patriotic about this country. You are a grown woman, what's stopping you from going to live overseas?

Also, if I had of followed you home, you wouldn't have made it home, you would be probably still be in my boot.

and another thing, explain to me how I am a fuckwit for defending my country? To me, people like you are the fuckwits, the kind of people who always need something to whinge about.

I haven't had an election to vote in since I turned 18. So no yet, but soon.
Yes I work, and I study fulltime. I get no benefits from the government and I live out of home. If Australia was invaded, yes, I would go to war

Ok, do you vote? Do you work? Would you fight for your country? Or are you a dole bludger who just puts shit on people who have a different opinion to you?
Yep, I vote. AND I work. I also pay my taxes, and generally don't try and screw the taxman over like every other bastard seems too. Taxes are good. I also would fight for my country, if my country was under threat, however I wouldn't if it was just political kowtowing like most of the recent conflicts have been.

I like Australia. You should move.

My God, you're a hero. Hope you've nearly finished your full time study, because the government are just about to price it out of everyones reach. And you must be a sex worker. Or a drug dealer. That's about the only way you'd be able to afford to pay your way, if you work and study full time with no government assistance while living out of home. Unless you have rich parents of course, and just work for fun.

My parent's are far from rich, I work fucking hard for what I have. They help me out when I really need it, but generally, I fend for myself. Don't make assumption's about me, it only makes you look stupid.

How can you say no one in this country is patriotic? This thread shows that there are people in here that do care, that do want to make a difference. I'm glad you obviously take what I say to heart, or else you wouldn't keep replying. This is one of the few things I am passionate about. The way I see it, if you don't like it, then leave. You don't DESERVE to live here.

I was looking at a Steve Parish book on Australia at the Australian embassy in Kuala Lumpur after some cunt stole my passport a couple of years ago, and it just made me think how great a country Australia is, but also how great a shame it was that was (and continues to be) completely fucked over by the despicable people in government.

Great country, awful people running it. I've spent lots of time overseas so I also can speak objectively!

Australia: Awesome country run by morons.

In Dungeon, we're ALWAYS promoting the fact that we're an AUSSIE metal band and we insist on including some kind of Aus history or symbol in anything we do.

I think we should be proud of what we have here, especially musically. We have some of the most talented musicians in the entire world down here, not to mention doctors, scientists, scholars, etc. etc.

Our biggest problem, as I said, is we're being fucked over by narrow-viewed, short-sighted "leaders" in almost every area of power, which is a fucking shame.

Not having a go at you Penelope, but have you travelled to any other country and have you stayed there for any length of time? If so, how would you compare them to what we have here and how would you say they have it better than we do?

I wouldn't live anywhere else. When you look at what Australia has in terms of just about everything, I don't want to think about living in another country. Maybe you've visited other countries, but unless you actually live there for a few years you couldn't possibly say you'd prefer it to living here. I like the idea that I can still go to the doctor for free if I need to, for a start. Sure, Johnny's a fuckwit, but I'm really not sure which other prominent world leader I'd prefer to have as Prime Minister. No one, I'm certain.

I agree with all the shit that is being said here too, and agree with pretty much every word of what Koich has said.

From a different perspective, I have never been out of the country, but I know that Australia is an excellent place to live. It isn't hard to compare living here to other countries by what you catch on the news and hear from other people that have travelled etc. Sure I want to travel one day, but I dare say I will always come back, because Australia is a great place to live, and if you don't like it, then do something about it rather than bitch about it.

As for Howard, yes, we could always do worse.

I have nothing against Australian people, oh, except for some of the men who are pigs that is. And the lifestyle is fine if you don't really care about much. The great Aussie motto "she'll be right mate". Yes, I have lived overseas, and as I said in an earlier post, if it was up to me I would still be there. But, because I'm married with kids and I'm a considerate wife and mother, and my husband and kids wanted to come back here, I agreed. As far as comparing things, well medical and education are the things I'll start with. Where we lived, in Finland, education was really free. Not like they like to say here, but in reality it's a different story. My kids went to school there. They didn't need uniforms, books, biro's or even lunch. It was all supplied by the government. Here, I get nasty letters asking for my kids "VOLUNTARY" contributions. Plus because we move around a bit, every school here has a different uniform, a different curriculum so you need different books, and they want to slug you for every little thing. Free education? I don't think so. Now medical. I needed to have some surgery done, and in Australia they just put it off and put it off. I was in Finland for 2 weeks and I was in hospital, surgery done and thoroughly checked for anything else. I did get a bill but it was small in comparison to what I would have paid here. Our medical service in Australia really sucks. Anyone who would argue with that has obviously never been sick. And you only get to go to the doctor for free here if you are low income or unemployed. We have so many doctors form overseas that we are lucky if we get to see one that speaks understandable english. And why is that? Fucked if I know? Also, because we move around, a lot of doctors wont see new patients, and that really pisses me off.

Now, I'll apologise for upsetting all you boys. Didn't realise you loved your country so much. It's a rather refreshing turn of events because usually no one gives a fuck.
