There was E.Z.O. which was mainstream metal, and there's SIGH, which is black metal. Those are the only 2 Japanese bands I can think of that made somewhat of a conservative impression in the States.

Well this is how I have always thought about it.


My favourite band of all time is Iron Maiden who are from England. So England is best known for old school Heavy Metal (maiden, priest, sabbath, saxon, etc) and stoner, doomy stuff (My Dying Bride, Anathema, paradise Lost, etc).

Then we have Norway for black metal

Sweden for death

Germany for thrash


USA for speed

Canada for Grind

when I listened to Lost paradise album at the first time I was really afraid.. and I couldn't listen at night for long time (when I'm alone at home)
but look at them now..
