Is Dimmu Borgir worth checking out?

i listened to Progenies Of The Great Apocalypse and was impressed but is there stuff worth checking out?

there old stuff is good, Kings of the Carnival Creation is a great song

Their older material is awesome, but the newer stuff is... not so great. I'd say check out the Godless Savage Garden or For All Tid albums. Perhaps Stormblast too.

what a good symphonic song by them? there keyboardist is quite impressive not only in playing but in synth programming... unless he's using a click track with it because those parts are impossible to play with one keyboard.

i also wasn't aware that Vortex (when i heard the clean vocals i automatically thought Arcturus ) and hellhammer where in the band.

Hmmm... well the symphony work on Death Cult Armageddon was pretty good, though I did not like the songs as much. Maybe try the song Stormblast. It's old but the whole album has good keyboard work.
