is it possible? ... does anyone still care?

While I'd say that "Appetite" is a brilliant disc...

I think it's a good album, but not the life-changing one that a lot of people make it out to be.

I'd still say Guns n Roses was given way too much credit for simply mixing 50% Aerosmith with 50% Motley Crue.

That's a pretty good comparision, and I agree.

you mean, their past material is overrated?

because I don't see how a band which hasn't released any viable new material in 15 years can still be thought of as overrated
yeah, i mean as a band, their whole catalogue, they are up there with nirvana and aerosmith in terms of overratedness

Disagree. While there may be a similar easy to hard edged rock vibe going on in certain tracks, I don't hear any Aerosmith or Motley Crue on songs like "Locomotive", "14 Years", "Coma", "Estranged", "The Garden", "Dead Horse", "Breakdown" and more.

There may be a degree of influence on the sound, but I'd hardly call them an Aerosmith/Crue hybrid band.

I read some bullshit saying that Chinese Democracy is supposed to be out in the next month. Some press release or something. I say... whatever. If and when it sees the light of day I see it ultimately tanking after the initial swell of people who run out to get it based on nostalgia or sheer curiosity.

You, sir, are right on.

Since Use Your Illusion, there was The Spegetti Incident, then a billion years later was the Symphony for the Devil cover from Interview With A Vampire movie, then another hundred zillion years later was that Oh My God it sucks song on End of Days soundtrack, then the Live Era album, then the concerts and VMA performance.

I'm mildly curious about what kind of product by anyone would need over TEN years of development.

It's gonna rule when it turns out to be a basement recording version of Pretty Hate Machine.

Or like My World remixed like 14 different ways, more reverb on the "let's dooooo iiiiiiiit......" part on repeat, haha.

You don't hear it on specific songs? That would seem to indicate it you hear it on others. Regardless, I was talking about "Appetite". I never bothered with the anal rape that was the "Illusion" CDs (record one CD worth of good material, sell two).

You don't have to, I already did.:D

I actually quite liked the new* song they played at the MTV awards with Bukethead on guitar. That said, I couldn't stop staring at Axl Rose's face -- that's one of the most stretched out face lifts I've ever seen. Add to that the braids...my goodness.

Appetite was brilliant. 1988 was a damn good summer.

*although that was like 2 years ago now already, heh.

Bleh - like I said, only an easy to hard edged rock vibe going on it certain tracks. But even on those, I think GNR had a fairly unique sound in the heavy rock world.

Saw you mention it, but didn't realize you only meant that album. While there may be more of a party hard rock vibe going on in that album, I still don't hear the hybrid on songs like "It's So Easy", "My Michelle", "Think About You", "Nightrain", "Sweet Child O' Mine" and more as well. At the very, very least, no direct hybrid. I can hear a similar vibe on some songs like "Rocket Queen", "Paradise City" and "Mr. Brownstone", but I still don't think Aerosmith/Motley Crue rip off when hearing them. That's just me.

Many people feel this way, I don't. I think there's about 1 and a half album's worth of quality material with about a half album's worth of throwaways on both combined. Again, just me.

Now look here you washed up has been villain from 24 years ago - just because you're running for office in 2008 is no reason to think that your word is still law. For the last time, the powers of the yellow sun of this solar system do not give you super taste in music. :loco:

I'd just like to say that no matter how bad your day is going, you can always toss on Mr. Brownstone and feel a whole lot better about everything.

That, RC Cola, and raspberry parfait. This morning sucked, this afternoon is gonna rule.

The cowbell on "Nighttrain" works wonders for the libido too. Suffering from oompa dick? "Loaded like a freight train, flying like an aeroplane...." and away you go.

Hey you know that one chick on Welcome to the Jungle who has the orgasm in the middle? That shit gets me hard.

You know when Bugs Bunny dressed up like a girl bunny, did you ever find her attractive?
