The State can't appeal. An appeal happens when someone is convicted of a crime. Then they have the right to appeal. He is scott free in the eyes of the law. New people would have to come forward and say they were molested in order for another trial to happen. Then that trial would only be relevant to the new charges and nothing from the old trials would matter. Double Joepardy and all that...

I heard the term 'Scot Free' comes from us Jocks: under Scot's Law you get Guilty, Innocent and Not Proven whereas English Law (inferior ) you only get Guilty and Innocent.

Not Proven = getting off Scot Free.
