is the BALL back???

I also heard this. Have 0 info on it though.

I always thought it would be cool if there was an MTV Classic. And they could show old episodes of Headbangers Ball, Shows they don't air anymore (Sifl and Oley, maybe Bevis and Butthead stuff like that...) and a bunch of say... Pre 1995 or earlier videos and stuff. that would be awesome.

Yes! Headbangers BAll!!! I can't wait to see all the nu-metal/warrant/bon jovi/poison 'metal' acts. Way to go MTV, at least you're current on the scene.

Corporate America MTV won't show anything worth seeing. It was nice to waste 1 hour of my time just to see another White Dwarf video. I'll take nothing over the junk they'll play and I will in no way support that channel.

Yes...the Ball is returning, but.... Metalica will be hosting .... gaaaggg!

Metallica is better than about 99% of all the bands that MTV would even consider for a show. Their idea of metal is like.... Limp Bizkit or P.O.D. or Stained or something...

I will not be watching, that much is certain...it will only serve to give nu-metallers another outlet (as if they need one) and present bastardized and otherwise commercially manipulated forms of metal.

Although I don't want to, I'm sure curiosity will kill the cat, and I'll end up watching it, and, most likely, regretting it. :)

I will have to agree with all of you on this... I also have serious doubts MTV and there corporate label backing will prove to be of any real substance. I was looking all over for an article where they announced it was coming back...I can't find it, but it went something like..." The ball is back, featuring the best of hair today, gone tomorow acts that made headbanging an art as well as todays current top metal bands ."

so it's going to sound like my local rock radio stations then? Metallica, Scorpions and Dokken followed by Stained, Taproot and P.O.D. hmmmmmm..... so they'll more than likely skip 75% of the TRUE metal bands all together I assume? I think I'll pass... I would hate to be subjected to programming (no pun!) that would leave me dumber than I already is. :tickled:

Just like these Corporate radio program directors, MTV exect's only know the green and take orders form someone who hasn't a clue... all with their heads embedded fimrly in each others rectum! I can just smell it now...

I am interested to see how they handle this myself. I think everyone should check it out for "hopes" sake anyways, I mean, how long has it been since we've all been whining about getting this back on right? :)

I'll be watching, May 10th, 10 pm (Saturday night) to see what happens. Never know... they could surprise us.

well...here it is in all it's glory.... let me be the first to officialy say that I will not be watching this program, and will boycott it and encourage any tr00 metal fan to do the same.

Alex Coletti is obviously musicly retarded... :Spin:
That's the corporate music biz for ya, to bad they have no idea what metal is anymore.

MTV2 Programming Executive Alex Coletti recently spoke to Fox News about the resurgence of heavy metal and the music network's decision to bring back the 1987-1995 program "Headbanger's Ball" starting Saturday, May 10.

"People were always asking me to bring back the Ball," said Coletti. "And there's so much good new metal coming out. Kids needed a place they can count on [to see and hear it]."

"We're not going to play hair bands circa 1989 for two hours," Coletti said of the resurrected show's intended format. "We'll always throw back to the older videos — those classics that inspired the new bands — but you'll be more likely to see STAIND, KORN and THE DATSUNS."

As previously reported, the premiere edition of the "new" "Headbanger's Ball" will feature METALLICA as hosts, to be followed by three-show hosting stint by Rob Zombie. "Headbanger's Ball" will air on Saturday, May 10 at 10:00 p.m. on MTV2.

I seriously doubt the hosts will have any say in what is played... Unless this Alex Coletti brain-stem get flooded with requsted for a particular band/video in the true metal genres (hint, hint), I would expect only the worst in corporate metal...
