Haven't done it, but give it a try. It's not hard to solder it back. It'll take you 20 minutes to modify, test, make up your mind and restore it

I want to do this, I don't have a SD-1 though. But I would also include a better op amp chip. The JRC is supposed to be the original but I would go with a better one like the opa213pa.
