Isahn's new album... the Adversary... Yay or Nay?

Definitely yay. At first I thought it was mediocre, but once I gave it alot of spins it really opened up for me.

it sucks so much ass its like the only album i can actually listen to and actively enjoy because its so ridiculously bad

yay. it kinda picks up where emperor left off, plus some borknagar and mercyfull fate influences.

mercyful fate influences hey - maybe ill check it out :kickass:

Good overall, could've been better directed. Drummer is ok, but he sounds like a drum machine through the mix (check intro to Will You Love Me Now). Being a big fan of Emperor's work, I guess that I automatically look for "Empirical" elements in other musical efforts by its members, always ending up a bit disappointed in the end, whether it is Zyklon, Though Shalt Suffer, Peccatum, or the new Ihsahn. (I'm not EVEN mentioning Scum - it was hard for me not to lose all respect for Samoth after seeing that shit.) I thoroughly enjoy Nightside, Anthems, Equilibrium (yeah, yeah, fuck all you haters "not BM enough, waaaahhh...." - I seen 'em live on that tour and they fucking blistered! I even met Samoth and Ihriel, got to sit at the bar next to Ihsahn throughout the entire Witchery and most of Borknagar set until he had to go get ready. Talk about a fucking black metal moment!) In short, I wish the guys in Emperor would get back together as a black metal band and record another milestone album. And I wish that Ihsahn would get back into metal. Seiously, how good can a "metal" album be when it is written/recorded by someone who openly tells people that he does not listen to any metal at all? :Smug:

i think (and hope) its coming soon. emperor re-union shows, and this album is pretty close to where emperor left off (minus a few tracks). all i have to say is ill be at wacken, front and center, hoping they announce a new album

Cheers to you, I'd only love to fucking be there. Hey, I wonder if maybe Faust will come out for a couple of encores off Nightside?
