Isnt it about time Anathema changed their name?

opeth.
metallica (really big black album)
pink floyd. (well im not sure though but i think they really started with dark side of the moon (not? dunc you must know))

but yeah. most bands made it after a few albums. frightening eh.

Hmm, I don't know how you can compare Opeth with Metallica or Pink Floyd (unless it's some kind of irony or insiderthing I don't know of :) ). Opeth never made it big - they are still selling to the same circle of metalpeople+ (metalpeople and people somehow related to metal). The same with Katatonia. Katatonia could probably appeal to a lot of people outside the metal genre (even though the metal genre is such a limited word), but they will always have that "hard metal tag" on them.
The same as Anathema have nowadays, and even Antimatter, and even Ulver! Eventhough Katatonia are much harder than the beforementioned bands, I still think they could expand widely into the more "normal rock" scene. The same goes for Anathema and Antimatter, but people in recordstores and on magazines are probably just writing them off as "metal" due to their earlier albums....

then you have to tell me why the opethboard is stuffed with new members. esp from america.

and they made it big. that USAtour did a lot for em. still.. imo

i dont really think antimatter or katatonia could appeal to that much people. katatonia is too metal and their artwork is too dark-metalish to appeal to anyone else than metalheads. antimatter could appeal to electro/trip hop fans but they will never make it big cause its not easy enough. and opeth are queers.
