Okay, so yesterday at school, my friend Jack comes up to me with his discman and he's like "I want you to listen to something."

Me: What is it?
Jack: I'll tell you after it's over. It's short.
Me: This isn't Tom Petty again, is it?
Jack: No, I think you'll like it.

So I put on the headphones, and it's AWESOME. It starts off with some brilliant riffage that sounds like something off the Jester Race, and then with the vocals it kicks into a total power metal groove...like Manowar meets In Flames (that is, before In Flames turned into women) with a little bit of thrash. It's less than two minutes, but it's BRILLIANT.

Me: That was AWESOME, dude. Who was it?
Jack: You're not gonna believe me.
Me: Uh-oh...
Jack: Sum-41.
Me: WHAT THE FUCK?!
Jack: Sum-41.
Me: %#$&?ç©#$%&#^´´´ÎÅÅfi%&4?¶fi#$^%&?!%¶fi¶?&£%&¡%&£!~!!!!

This is why I hate those little fuckers so much. They could be SO AWESOME. SO FUCKING METAL. But instead, they're playing this pop-punk bullshit that sounds like it came out of a koala's ass. They're released a couple albums of crap, they're rich now, WHY DON'T THEY PLAY SOME MOTHERFUCKING METAL?!!!

GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!

Okay, I'm done now.

That happened to me, with Sum 41. They're half talented, and it scared me. Still does. Was it a song called "Pain for Pleasure?"

youve JUST heard pain for pleasure?

whoa ho, hahahahaha

man, us canadians have been cursed with the music video for AGES, its gone now though

I dont know where you got the IF sound in that song.meh. that song is alright, I guess, a little simplistic though. (its basically triplets for a few minutes)
i like the scream at the end, and the satan referance, definitely scored a few extra points.and more points for the leather outfit in the video.

As for SUM41's other music, a few songs have some nice guitar sounds, little things, techniques...but its not enough for me to label them cool though.

FRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE FALLIN!!!!!

dude. sum 41 hangs out with kerry king, and theyre biggest influences are judas priest and iron maiden. say what you will, i like them. theyre solos and rthymns are almost metal, and at points, with the proper singer, could go far

i have their new cd, its got a lot harder edge than all killer no filler, and gets metal at a few points. they said that they were trying for the cd to sound like a melodic slayer, which imo, they failed miserably. theres one song, i think #7 ill have to check, it gets rather slayer"ish" in the middle or the end. not quite there though, its lacking some balls. some of it is straight pop punk, but on some tracks, it gets almost half decent, metalwise. theres a couple solos, but nothing jawdropping. the cd also comes with an extra dvd that has a movie about "Pain for Pleasure" thats quite funny, if you like when canadians go retarded humor. on the dvd it also has some more metal tracks by the band.

I don't know why every one is tripping on In Flames? I think they are still bad ass!! So what they got a couple slow songs. It's not like they pulled a metallica and became complete ball lickers. Even though IMO I hear some "..and justice" coming out of R2R.
