Certainly Matos is unique enough that there seems to be a strong desire to want to emulate him (I'm thinking of Edu and the guy from Arwen in particular), so I'd say that he's heavily influential. Also, I never felt that there was a male singer who could pull off Kate Bush's Wuthering Heights until I heard him do it.

Agree with you. Saw this when it happened, and said thank God! His upper register was wrecked, he just doesn't seem to know how to take care of his voice. Lot of bad info out there so its understandable. Its a shame. While it was a good cd, you could hear it getting bad in Temple of Shadows. Can't sustain doing that I don't think. Wonder if it will be possible, but it seems to be the right time for a reunion, he's gotten back together with Viper, and if he can work out the details with those two guys with their past actions that were basically a form of treason, that would be amazing. From my limited interactions with one of them, can't say I was happy to talk to him and he's one of my most favorite guitarrists.. But, would love it if they picked up from Angels Cry/Holy Land. Hes my favorite singer, think his technique and style are fantastic. Id challenge anyone to try singing like that. Have seen most of the covers for select songs of early Angra with Matos in the band and it can very rarely be done, if well at all.
