I meant when you just hit the rubber of your converse allstar low tops on some uneven sidewalk, so that it doesn't stub your toe, nor do you fall over. You just lose your balance, but it reminds you of the stumble your drug-addict girlfriend took before she started beating you unmercifully with her studded belt for borrowing her pants without asking, until you cried in the corner of your closet alone and then wrote a song about it.
