If the mighty James Labrie toured his extensive catalog and so did Russell Allen? My friends, could we ever ask for a more beautiful combination of solo headliners??? I would anticipate large cost of course, but could a sacrifice be made on both their parts, financially, to make something like this happen?

I would think that Labrie would be impossible for the same reason Dickinson seems to be.

Russell Allen though, how much is there? Symphony X, Atomic Soul, and Allen/Lande?

I'd say just get Symphony X here and have them add "Hunter's Night" to the set. There you go.

Yes. For instance, Russell and any other human being on the planet. They don't even need to be a professional singer. As a matter of fact, they don't even need any sense of melody, pitch, key or tone.

I agree, but on a note of talented singers to pair with Russell, either DC Cooper or John West, or one of my favorites Oliver Hartmann, but Labrie.........I don't think so.

James Labrie sucks. I speak for everyone on this forum when I say it.

Who are you to say you speak for everyone in the forum?

Oh yeah, the kid... Sorry buddy, speak for yourself next time.

Is Russel Allen REALLY suitable for ProgPower though? I think he has some cool stuff, but it aint really Prog or Power. Even if he were to play, I wouldnt want him HEADLINING. Labrie, nah...some of his stuff is good but he has enough fanbase to tour the US and succeed with it anyway.

I would be down with either one of them or both, but I dont think they should headline. And yes atomic soul is not really prog/power style, but were there really a lot of people that didnt like it or wouldnt want to see it. I mean it is absolutely amazing music.

WTF? No....you DO NOT speak for everyone else. You have obviously missed the Gigantour and failed to witness Labrie's excellent vocals. He has matured into one of the best & most recognizable vocalists in the biz. Especially considering DT's extensive tour schedule & the strain that will put on the vocal chords night tafter night. This guy is laying it down like it ought to be done. IMO...all others pale in comparison.

I'm pretty sure that statement was made in a tongue in cheek sort of way.

I saw Gigantour. Wasn't impressed. I sat through the first two songs, and retreated to the beer stand.

Well, I'd agree with half that statement; his vocals are easily reconized.

That's cool. To each their own.

Im sorry I forgot to turn on my SARCASM font, however; I DID see Gigantour, and I was NOT impressed. He is STILL Untolerable live. I find it funny, that Arjen Lucassen got his best ever performance on 1 Ayreon album, than in 8 Dream Theater albums + Solo + Mullmuzzler etc. etc

James LaBrie is horrible. His solo project is even worse. And I wouldn't be suprised in the least if he headlined next year. I hope he will, since it doesn't look like I will be able to make it next year. There's a plus. :loco:

Edit: I'll give him some credit because he's only horrible now in part because Dream Theater write HORRIBLE music for him vocally. But he did the same thing to himself in his solo project, so it wouldn't have mattered even if the music was good.

I am not afraid to admit that I am a huge Dream Theater fan. I do like Labrie but am not disillusioned in any way that he is the best singer out there. I think he does a good job in the studio and I don't think that he is the strongest singer live. He does however turn in a great performance on Ayreon's " Human Equation".

Russel Allen however is a monster.

exactly, he might have a bad voice live from time to time, but on studio albums, his voice is one of the most recognizable voices and unique in every way. Dream Teather's tours tend to be extensive and long shows everynight, that's why it's normal that any vocalist's voice damage. (during touring)...only people that pay notice to these kind of stuff can understand this. Others just generelize by listening some live albums, or even bootleg collectors. His voice was fucking good on Gigantour.

He himself explained to me that his period of terrible voice (he actually told me he sounded like shit at times) was because of his vocal cord rupture... Luckily he's healed now and you can hear the difference on the solo album and Octavarium...

IYO (in you opinion)
