jeff loomis in the new GUITAR WORLD!

no one said they dont possess excellent technique, its the cheesy, generic, and boring music that they create. in fact, i get more anoyed at the wasted potential than the bland, derivative music.

Whats wrong with being "lumped in" with musicians like Luca Turilli and Olaf Thorsen who blow most guys out the water? If I was Jeff I think I'd be pretty happy to be "lumped in" with guys who can play like they do.

Regardless of their technical capability, power metal bands have a totally different spirit in their music. Nevermore does not sound like a power metal band at all. You can love power metal all you want for whatever reasons you choose, but it doesn't change the fact.

1) Yeah, not so much with the Nevermore being powermetal. Doesn't fit. Still, they aren't really easily definable, they're like melodic progressive thrash or something. :err:

2) Olaf, if I remember him right (The guy who used to be in Labyrinth?) is pretty damn good, and props to him 'cause Return to Heaven Denied is a great power metal album that ISN'T just made with the big Power Metal cookie cutter that 95% of Power Metal bands use to write EVERY goddamn album.

3) Rhapsody is really gay and has only written one album that they keep rereleasing or getting Christopher Lee to do voice work on. (which isn't fair 'cause I haven't heard that CD, but hey, the T-shirt is frickin hilarious with Christopher Lee's disembodied head with a crown on it heheheee, man that's classic)

wow, i actually agree with a fair portion of this. luckily, you hate the transformers movie, so i can still look upon you with scorn.

I don't hate it, that would suggest more than indifference, I just thought it was crap. Mainly because it was crap. I probably thought it was hot shit when it came out, as I quite enjoyed the Transformers. But having seen it recently, blech.
