Jeff Loomis - Zero Order Phase!!

the album is so great :Smokin:

but why the hell he use programmed drums ?!!!
he didn't. the drummer on the album is Mark Arrington.

"Robert Lang Studios played host to Loomis' first solo venture earlier this year with producer Neil Kernon and drummer Mark Arrington joining the fray. Arrington had been with NEVERMORE in 1993-94 to play on half of the songs that ended up on the band's self-titled debut, and Kernon recorded the first three NEVERMORE albums."

hahaha im surprised its leaked so early...it IS an instrumental album after all i dont see it being really popular?

Will be buyin this little ditty once its out for sure!

I haven't heard anything but the clip on Jeff's Myspace, and the same song on the Namm videos, but what made you think the drums are programmed (taking into account James' reply)? I'm not taking the piss, just wondering.........does it sound really mechanical and too perfect?

at least for me guys the cymbals sound so mechanic and plastic ... like made with reason .. kick and snare samples oh my..

but the songs are fantastic... nothing to say about that..

Loomis is the fucking man! Can't wait to get this one when its out! Lets hope the tabs roll in sharpish because people will no doubt be trying to nail this stuff!

I have the whole full quality mastered thing. The kick and snare do have a definite sampled sound to them (the kick is a little more noticeable in my opinion), but the cymbals sound plenty real to my ears, and there's a good amount of ambiance and room sound on the kit as well that I think sounds really good. I'm not sure what the quality of the leak is that felipe got his hands on, but it's making things sound worse and/or more fake than they really are, as leaks often do. I do know the kick is a Cannibal Corpse sample, haha.

It actually sounds like a drum scratch track or something, with only triggers going and no humanization whatsoever. Actually the whole thing sounds like a rough mix. So I look forward to pick up the actual CD once it's released.

I think it sounds absolutely amazing! I knew it'd be great, this is iconic stuff regardless of production, but I actually really like the production and the drum sound. Cant wait to hear the proper thing on cd!

Man, I love his tone in this album. Sounds like material that could have been from the Nevermore Dead Heart sessions... wow... :kickass:
