I think Åkesson was quite good, fitted in the band and his playing was nearly flawless. Axe however had problems with his doublebass drumming... He made many mistakes especially on Deliverance (the last repetitive part). Perhaps his pedals weren't working properly cause the mistakes were continuous...
If I remember correctly Mike stated that they will start recording the new album on november and this would be their only gig this year. He said their "hibernation-state" will last yet another year.

Intresting interview in Finnish radio channel YleX with Åkerfeldt. Among other things he mentioned that he has bought ProTools machina. So its easier to put songs together than earlier. And new record will not be released until year from now. Two songs already been made (not recorded though), song lenghts are 7 and 9 minutes.

IT WAS A HELL OF A FESTIVAL AND A GREAT SHOW FROM OPETH

It was my first time to watch a festival since we dont have any festivals in Israel and it was totally great. there were a lot of good band but at the top there was Opeth!!
I was honored to watch Opeth preform with Blackwater Park for the first time! yeh for the first time ever!!! i donno if u guys actually get it but they never played it live before!!!

The crowed was nervous... whats going to be next?? the time is very short!! only one hour and u could hear Mikael saying: we only have one hour so i will try not to talk too much!! and then there was a straight tone coming in the air and it got louder and louder... and then Mikael asked: do u know what song it is? and everybody was shouting BLACKWATER PARK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
it was totally amazing!!!

below, there's a picture u can see me (the second one from the right) and Rissy, a dude from this forum as well!! (the blond guy on my right). it was so cool to meet him. he actually recognized me by a tiny picture from msn but actually it wasnt so hard to recognize me cuz apprently nobody else looked like me as he said LOL!!!!

so I had the oppertunity to meet his friends and spend the whole show together at the front row near the stage.
I also took some pictures from the show and video clips as well!! i promiss to upload them as soon as possible. currently now i am still touring scandinavia so i guess when i will be back home i'll upload Blackwater Park video clip.

Sorry, I don't mean to rain on your parade... but, they have played Blackwater Park live before, many times in fact! It DOES kick serious ass, though!

Damn there are some lucky people who got to see the band at Ilosaari. Lucky lycky I tell ya!!

And man we have to wait a whole freaking year for the new Opeth album, well Im sure its worth the wait.

The new guitarist seems cool and if he played the music well then thats all we can ask for. Thanks for the pics people.

I like his guitar though, what is it? Looks like Gibson but I don't think I've seen a Gibson quite like his (the white rim and all...).

He is endorsed by ESP so probably not. Unless ESP and Gibson are the same company...
